Spring YMSSS
I was asked by Yours Mine Secondhand Shopping Soiree (YMSSS) creator, Patrice Washington, to once again style shoppers at this fabulous event.
The Spring YMSSS was held on Saturday, May 4th.
I not only had a wonderful time styling some great ladies, but I found some goodies that I will highlight later on.
As usual, the event had a variety of vintage and secondhand vendors. It was held at a new venue, Courtyard Marriott in DC (NOMA district).
There were also cupcakes from Red Velvet as well as Mocktails from Honest Tea and wonderful pita & hummus from Roti. All were happy to shop and snack.
Enjoy the photos!
As you can see above, I wore one of my closet staples, denim/leather jacket from Revel (Old Town, Alexandria); Coral maxi skirt and white tee from Target; Michael Kors shoes, and Ann Taylor belt.
Here are the shopping and yummy highlights of the event:
One of my college friends and Sorority sisters stopped by to shop and chat. Fun times!
The refreshments below were perfect for the hungry shopper……
We hope to see you at the next soiree on Saturday, August 3rd!
Girly Fun-Gossip Girl Farewell Party
If you haven’t noticed, Washington DC & style go hand in hand. We are not just about politics and navy blue suits.
When I received the invitation to last night’s Gossip Girl farewell party, I knew I was in for a treat. The celebration of a great show, its fashion, and drama.
It was held at the Renaissance Hotel in Dupont Circle.
The emailed invitation playfully stated ‘come join us dressed as your favorite character from Gossip Girl & enjoy prizes, giveaways, and fashion photo ops.’ It was hosted by some fabulous folks: Brandon Andrews, Washingtonian Style Setter 2012; Waverly Blair (Rich & Poor blog) and Kimee Brown of neonV magazine. Who would pass that up?
The viewing party was attended by many local fashionistas who mingled, sipped delicious cocktails, and enjoyed tasty appetizers. My fuzzy navel was delicious!
Although Gossip Girl was ending, attendees used the evening to celebrate the highlights of the show, the fashion and a new style website, Character’s Closet. The goal of Character’s Closet is to provide you with the tools needed to create a wardrobe like your favorite TV characters. It will launch in early 2013. Overall, it was an event that Blair and Serena would be proud of.
I’m wearing my $5 thrifted ‘Ella’ shirt dress; black tights, shoes & belt; red cardigan from Dots; my Burberry baby and a holiday smile with a red lip
Farewell, Gossip Girl!
Secondhand Shopping Soiree Recap
Holiday music, clothing racks, yummy martinis, laughter, and lots of shopping. These are all of the things that made last Saturday’s Yours-Mine Secondhand Shopping Soiree, a true pre-holiday treat.
The Yours-Mine event is usually held quarterly, as a way of giving DC area ladies the opportunity to shop on a budget. It’s a great feeling to be able to keep a few dollars in your pocket while looking great. Saturday’s event was held at the artsy Mova Lounge in Washington, DC. This lounge is near the U Street corridor and surrounded by great brunch spots, a bonus for hungry shoppers. The event was a special ‘Pre-Holiday’ one, filled with shoppers’ delights and styling gift certificates from yours truly.
If you missed it, you missed great deals on wonderful secondhand items. The prices were fantastic and the items of great quality.
There were many vendors with vintage flair and a couple focused on the plus size woman. Those vendors were Girls of Plenty (above pic) and Whitney James (below). Whitney not only brought fashion, but candy canes to get you in the holiday spirit.
I had the pleasure of serving as the event’s onsite fashion consultant again. Offering free styling tips to the ladies on their purchases was so much fun. Look at some of the ladies who stopped at my style corner.
We had a great time shopping, sipping, and chatting about fashion. Here I am with the organizer and host of this fabulous event, Patrice Washington….
We of course could not end the shopping experience without some tasty ‘Thrifty-Girl Tinis’ made by the awesome bartenders at Mova Lounge.
Please join us next time!
