Friday Flashback: Pink+Awareness+Survival

imageAs I prepared to meet my sister-friends for dinner last night, I couldn’t help but to choose my hot pink J.Crew sweater. As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  For most of us, the fight to find a cure is very close to our hearts and lives.

While I know many survivors of breast cancer, I have also known young and energetic  women who have lost their fight with this disease.

I’m currently praying for a close friend & sorority sister who has recently been diagnosed.  She is strong, fit, beautiful and very blessed that her cancer was detected early, through a mammogram screening.  We know that she will be a survivor and will be able to inspire others to fight. God is guiding her journey and the journey of many others who have to face this diagnosis.

FACT: 1 out of 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer.  The survival rate for early detection is 98% while the survival rate for those diagnosed later on is only 27%.

So, while I love this pink sweater that I wore yesterday, it is more than a fashion statement.  It is for awareness, hope, healing, prayer, and blessings. I hope that it inspires you to get your mammogram.  Don’t forget to encourage your friends and family to get theirs too. I am scheduled for my first one at the end of this month. I will no longer procrastinate.

What’s Next for Miss Sassy, LLC

Hello, friends. For months now, I have struggled with figuring out the direction for Miss Sassy. I’ve gone back and forth and finally got the clarity I needed. As you know, Miss Sassy is my creation, my vision, my passion and my business.
I took the Summer off to enjoy life while sorting out how to best position the blog. I even thought the blog would return in the Fall, but, no…
I’ve decided to retire the blogging aspect of Miss Sassy.
What does this mean you ask?
I will no longer be doing outfit or personal style blogging. My website will be focused on MY SERVICES which include: wardrobe styling, shopping assistance, empowerment through style workshops, and updates on events.
While I’ve enjoyed the blogging, consistency has been a challenge for a while and for many reasons. My vision, commitments and priorities for Miss Sassy have evolved. I am focused on the business.
But wait….if you’re following me on social media, you’ll still see my personal style, shopping tips, and my favorite pieces. Be sure to follow my Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter.
I thank you for your support, encouragement, and love from the start of this journey. I hope that you will continue to walk with me as I enter this new chapter…
